Chris Paul recently made headlines for getting traded to the Washington Wizards in exchange for Bradley Beal. But let’s put that on the back burner for a change.

The 38-year-old point guard recently made an appearance on Uninterrupted’s ‘The Shop.’ During the episode, CP3 shared that when he entered the NBA, he had just $151 in his bank account. He was offered $100,000 upfront money by his agents, but Paul’s parents convinced him to make the smart decision and take just $25,000 initially.

“I came in the league when I was 19,” Paul said. “I had a $151 in my bank account as a college student. I declared for the draft got [an] agent. The agent offered me $100,000 upfront money. Luckily, I had two parents, and they was like, ‘That’s too damn much,’ right? But they said $25,000, cool, right?”

Paul then shared how he checked his bank statement to make sure that the amount was credited. He also revealed how he spent the money from his first paycheck from the NBA.

“I was at Wake, in Winston,” Paul added. “I went to the bank right up the street just so I could see what the statement look like. Because we young, we don’t know, we ain’t never had no money like this. I went and got the statement, and it said $25,151. Right there though no education came along with it. First thing I did, I went to the mall. Took my girl to the mall, Jay Gray, his girl, we went to the mall. We went to the clothing store, I said, ‘Everybody get you something!'”

From having $151 in his bank account, Chris Paul has come a long way in his life. As of 2023, Paul has a net worth of $160 million.

He has used his earnings from playing in the NBA and endorsements to create an empire. Evidently, the 38-year-old has secured the life of his family for ages.

Where Will Chris Paul Play In The 2023-24 NBA Season?

Chris Paul spent three seasons (2020-21, 2021-22, 2022-23) with the Phoenix Suns before getting traded to the Washington Wizards. However, the veteran point guard is not expected to play even a single game for the Wizards.

The Wizards are planning to rebuild, and they have no need for CP3. Keeping that in mind, he is expected to negotiate a buyout with the Wizards and ultimately join a championship contender. The Los Angeles Clippers are expected to make a push to sign Paul following his move to the Wizards.

“The Washington Wizards are likely to reroute Chris Paul in a trade and the Los Angeles Clippers are expected to pursue a reunion with the future Hall of Famer, league sources tell NBA on TNT and Bleacher Report.”

Paul averaged 13.9 PPG, 4.3 RPG, and 8.9 APG during the 2022-23 regular season. He can become a valuable addition to the Clippers’ roster alongside Kawhi Leonard and Paul George.
