Kendrick Perkins Believes The Suns Are The Best Team In The NBA After Trading For Bradley Beal

The acquisition of Bradley Beal has made the Suns the best team in the NBA for Kendrick Perkins.

After falling short in the 2023 playoffs, the Phoenix Suns clearly felt the need to add more star power to their ranks.

The way to do it for them was to trade for Bradley Beal to form a new Big 3 of Beal, Kevin Durant, and Devin Booker. It is a formidable trio and Kendrick Perkins believes the Suns are now the best team in the NBA thanks to it.

“Bradley Beal, KD, and D Book? Three of the most prolific scorers in the game today on one team,” Perkins said. “James Jones is out here selling used cars for Rolls-Royce because that’s exactly what just happened. The fact that he was able to keep Deandre Ayton was huge. Look, the Phoenix Suns with this Big 3 should be the favorite to come out of the West and winning next year’s title… Currently constructed, this is the best team in basketball.”

(starts at 0:53 mark):

The Suns didn’t have to give up a whole lot to get Beal, which is a positive. He averaged 23.2 PPG, 3.9 RPG, 5.4 APG, 0.9 SPG, and 0.7 BPG for the Washington Wizards last season, and anytime you can add a player like that without giving up much, you should probably do it. They now have some incredible firepower, with three of the best scorers in the league at their disposal as Perkins stated.

Are The Suns The Best Team In The NBA Now?

The Suns certainly have a great Big 3, but there isn’t a whole lot else there after them and Deandre Ayton. They have no depth whatsoever, and with $162.9 million tied up in those four players, they aren’t in a position to make noteworthy additions during free agency.

They need to make another trade for that, and Ayton looks set to be the one to be moved. His stock isn’t all that high, however, so it remains to be seen just how much Phoenix can get for him. If they do get some quality pieces, would it still be enough to beat the Denver Nuggets? That’s still very doubtful.

Another big concern with this team is health, as Beal, Booker, and Durant have dealt with injury issues over the last few years. All of that just means there are way too many question marks surrounding this team at the moment, which makes it really hard to proclaim that they are the very best.
