Victor Wembanyama is expected to take the league by storm. The 19-year-old is viewed consensus first-overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft.

While Wembanyama has no shortage of talent, there are still a few who are concerned about the French phenom’s success in the NBA. Former Indiana Pacers star Reggie Miller recently voiced his concern about Wembanyama in an interview with ‘The Dan Patrick Show.’

“My only concern is – he looks like me at 7’5,” Miller stated. “Knock on wood, I was rarely injured, through my 18 year [career], only ankle injuries. But I played on the perimeter, I’m not banging with the big boys. But it’s not as physical as it was in the 80s and 90s, so he won’t be banged up like those days.”

Victor Wembanyama’s lanky frame could indeed be a hurdle in reaching his true potential once he is drafted into the NBA. Miller prays that the French prospect stays healthy throughout his career.

“I just hope he doesn’t get hurt,” Miller added. “I just pray he stays healthy, if he stays healthy, and everything I’ve seen on video tapes and everything I’ve seen on scouting reports, if he plays like that, the future is his. So I’m excited for him.”

Victor Wembanyama has all the tools to be a superstar in the NBA. He can score from anywhere on the court. But can he withstand the physicality of the league? Only time will tell.

Victor Wembanyama Is Excited To Be Drafted By The San Antonio Spurs

The San Antonio Spurs hit the jackpot when they landed the first-overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft. The organization has been searching for its next cornerstone star since Tim Duncan’s retirement in 2016.

Wembanyama will be mentored by franchise legends such as Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili, and Tony Parker if drafted by the Spurs.

Judging by the 19-year-old’s reaction during the NBA Draft lottery, he seems elated to potentially play under coach Gregg Popovich.

In the 2022-23 season, Wembanyama averaged 21.6 PPG, 10.4 RPG, 2.4 APG, 0.7 SPG, and 3.0 BPG for the Metropolitans 92.
