The 2023 NBA Draft Lottery brought some fantastic news to the San Antonio Spurs, as they received the No. 1 pick and the likely chance of drafting unicorn prospect Victor Wembanyama.

Wembanyama has already shared his excitement on Twitter, but his excitement at the moment when the Spurs got the No. 1 pick superseded it. He was seen smiling and clapping in joy after the lottery was over.

Wembanyama will likely be heading to an organization known for building rosters around superstars, as the Spurs have a ticket out of the non-playoff purgatory they’ve been in for the last four seasons. Adding Wembanyama to a core of Jeremy Sochan, Devin Vassell, and Keldon Johnson should reap rewards for San Antonio.

Victor Wembanyama Is Ready To Jump To The NBA

Fadeaway World has Wembanyama being drafted to the Spurs with the No. 1 pick in our mock draft, the most obvious pick in the entire draft. Brian Windhorst was in Paris to meet and interview Wembanyama after the lottery results.

“Can’t really describe it. My heart’s beating, I got everyone I love around me and this is a really special moment I’ll remember for the rest of my life… I’m a team player and I’ll do everything I can to win as many games as possible. I am trying to win a ring ASAP, be ready… I will try to bring my mentality, I love Texas, I’ve been there before. I am really happy and can’t wait to meet the fans and hopefully, the team I am going to join in June.”

Wembanyama didn’t appear for the NBA Draft Combine as he’s finishing out his season with the Metropolitans 92 in France.
