Scoot Henderson is one of the most talented prospects entering the 2023 NBA Draft. But he is expected to be the second overall pick in the draft. Why? Because Victor Wembanyama is viewed as the clear first-overall pick.

Wembanyama is expected to hit the ground running, and every franchise wants to draft the talented Frenchman. While many may give up on their dream to be drafted with the top pick after being against Wembanyama, Henderson is not one of them. In fact, Henderson believes he has what it takes to be the number one pick in the NBA draft.

“I think I have the ability to go No. 1,” Henderson said, per The Athletic. “I believe in myself as any competitor should.”

Henderson added: “My personality, it speaks for itself.”

The 19-year-old wants to be the top pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, but he is expected to go at the number three spot. If that happens, Henderson will be drafted by the Portland Trail Blazers. Fortunately, Henderson says he is sure that he and Damian Lillard can play together.

Either way, the fate of Scoot Henderson and other draft prospects will be decided on June 22, 2023, when the 2023 NBA Draft takes place.

Scoot Henderson Explained What Separates Him From Victor Wembanyama

When it comes to being blessed with the natural talent to play the game of basketball, Victor Wembanyama is arguably leaps and bounds ahead of Scoot Henderson.

So why should he be picked over Wembanyama? Well, according to Scoot, it’s his ‘dog’ mentality that separates him from the French phenom.

“I think I just got that dog in me. … Sometimes people got it on ’em, I got it in me. … I’m just the most prepared player in the draft honestly.”

It’s great to have such confidence in himself. Even if Henderson is not drafted as the first overall pick, he will have a stellar career in the NBA, thanks to his unwavering confidence.
