Scoot Henderson is likely going to be on the Charlotte Hornets or the Portland Trail Blazers by the time June comes after the way the Draft Lottery shook out.

The Blazers have already started shopping the third pick which could let a team draft a generational point guard talent like Henderson. The young guard tried to see if the Blazers would keep their pick by openly saying he and Damian Lillard can play together.

“I think I’d work out over there as well. I don’t have to be ball dominant. When my time comes, I’ll kill.”

The Fadeaway World mock draft has Henderson being drafted second overall to the Charlotte Hornets purely on the unmatchable superstar potential of a Scoot-LaMelo backcourt. The better-fitting pick for them might be Brandon Miller, but the rumors of Miles Bridges possibly returning to the team next season means Scoot might be a strong option.

What Should Portland Do With Their Pick?

The Blazers have an extremely powerful asset with this pick, as it’s been unanimously agreed that the top-three picks in this draft are all franchise-altering players. Obviously, Henderson or Miller aren’t at the same level as Victor Wembanyama as an asset, but they are no slouches themselves.

Drafting Scoot and playing him with Dame would be bad for Portland unless they trade Anfernee Simons away. That seems like a step too far, so the Blazers can hope to flip the draft rights to Scoot for a franchise looking for a high-potential point guard. The Toronto Raptors have some players they may want to get rid of that could help the Blazers immensely.

Brandon Miller may be a better fit at the empty wing positions in Portland, but he may take a few years to develop before he can be a top-tier NBA star. Lillard doesn’t have those years to wait, so the Blazers will need to ultimately pick between keeping Lillard or rebuilding by drafting Henderson or Miller. We all can see which outcome is likelier, as Portland are already fielding trade offers for the pick.
