Out of the 2023 NBA Draft, no prospects have received as much hype as Victor Wembanyama. Many people expect him to become a first-ballot Hall of Fame player, and it is clear that he is the consensus No. 1 pick this season.

There are a lot of people with relatively unrealistic expectations for Victor Wembanyama, and it seems as though NBA analyst Chris Broussard is one of them. Recently, he claimed that if the guard becomes a player like Kevin Durant, Hakeem Olajuwon, or Anthony Davis, then he will be “a disappointment”.

It is absolutely insane to say a player will be a disappointment if they end up having a Hall-of-Fame career. However, there have been a lot of suggestions from league-related people that Victor Wembanyama could end up as the GOAT, so it is somewhat understandable why Chris Broussard believes what he believes.

Victor Wembanyama Is The Most Highly-Anticipated Prospect In League History

NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski has previously summarized the hype around Victor Wembanyama, claiming that he is the “most highly-anticipated” prospect to ever enter the NBA. He also noted that he might be the “greatest prospect” in the history of all team sports.

“This is the most highly-anticipated player to ever enter the NBA. … Maybe the greatest prospect in the history of team sports.”

There is no doubt that Victor Wembanyama is highly regarded by a lot of executives around the league. There have even been reports that have suggested that teams would be willing to give him a max contract even if he had a multi-year injury entering the league. That is how talented he is as a player, and it is clear that a lot of people are willing to take a risk on his potential.

Hopefully, we see Victor Wembanyama become a superstar in the league, and there is no doubt that he has the potential to do so. He is almost certain to go to the San Antonio Spurs, who have a reputation for developing elite big men such as David Robinson and Tim Duncan. It will be interesting to see how good he ends up becoming, and his talent and skill level suggest that he could be an extremely special player in the future.
