Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies have been the subject of relentless roasting since their first-round loss against the Los Angeles Lakers.
A big reason for that is that both Ja and his teammates, like Dillon Brooks, have talked a lot of trash without having won anything significant. But it seems they have learned their lesson, based on the latest report on what Morant had to say about the topic.
“Ja Morant said when he first came back in March that he was going to be more ‘humble’ in his interviews,” Damichael Cole of The Commercial Appeal reported. “He added today that since he’s doing less trash-talking now, the team will probably follow. ‘I feel like that’s a good thing for us.'”

Ja Morant famously said earlier in the season that he was ‘fine in the West,’ a comment that was thrown back at him immediately after they lost in the first round. The Los Angeles Lakers have made their feelings about all the talk from the Memphis Grizzlies clear, too. LeBron James destroyed them with a Jay-Z lyric.
The Grizzlies are a young team with a lot of talent, but they need to figure their identity out quickly. Being the villain is not easy, as Dillon Brooks has found out in the last weeks. However, while Morant is aware that something needs to change, it’s not a foregone conclusion that the others will come along.
Dillon Brooks Has No Regrets About The Things He Said
After the enormous backlash he received, with fans hounding him with roasts, many thought even Dillon Brooks might be a little repentant regarding his actions and decisions. But that does not seem to be the case at all. After ducking his media duties during the series and after the game, he recently spoke out, saying that he will continue to be who he is.
“I’m a competitor and I compete,” Dillon Brooks said. “I’ll continue to be me and get better at what I do.”
This doesn’t exactly align with the tone Ja Morant is taking, and the Grizzlies need to get on the same page about all of this. Dillon Brooks is a free agent this offseason, though, so he might not even be on the team going into next year. Whatever the Grizzlies decide to do, they will certainly no longer be the same team they were.
