The Golden State Warriors are in the driver’s seat heading into Game 6 of their first-round series against the Sacramento Kings.
The Warriors have a 3-2 lead with Kevon Looney emerging as one of the team’s most valuable players. Draymond Green took to his podcast to praise the often underappreciated center for his contributions.
“Kevon Olajuwon Bill Russell Looney. 22 rebounds, the second time this series. 18.7 rebounds over the last three, 7.9 assists over the last three. Kevon Looney is playing some basketball. It’s funny because I haven’t been in the starting lineup and I am standing at the scorers’ table dapping guys up and Loon came by. I said, ‘Every rebound, Loon’. I didn’t think he was gonna get every rebound but the dude got every rebound, making plays out of the pocket. Love to see it. Love to see a guy who’s been through so much doing what he’s doing.
"I said 'Loon, every rebound, Loon'. I didn't think he would get every rebound… Dude went and got every rebound… love to see it."

Kevon Looney is averaging 6.0 points, 14.4 rebounds, and 5.0 assists this series, incredible numbers for someone who’s a rotational center. He has been key in limiting Domantas Sabonis’ production, especially in terms of denying the Lithuanian center offensive rebounds. His post-playmaking has been sensational as well, as Looney has emerged as the ultimate frontcourt weapon for Golden State.
Will The Warriors Close The Series Out In Game 6?
With the series momentum shifting from the Kings to the Warriors after Game 5, many fans would reckon that Golden State finish them off on their home court. The Warriors are one of the best home team’s in the NBA, going 35-8 at home this season (including playoffs).
Funnily enough, the Kings have the best away record in the Western Conference but failed to pick up a road win in Games 3 and 4. Now they have no choice but to pick up a win in Game 6 if they want to have a shot at advancing in the playoffs.
Stephen Curry has been leading his team admirably and now De’Aaron Fox will have to find a way to push through his finger fracture and ensure this Kings season can at least go on till a Game 7.
