Klay Thompson leaped to Draymond Green’s defense by calling out Sacramento Kings’ center Domantas Sabonis for his “dirty” play.

Speaking to the media in the aftermath of the Golden State Warriors 114-106 loss, “What are you gonna do to someone grabs your foot at full when you’re running full speed?” Thompson explained. “That was dirty. I’m not saying what Draymond did was right but you can’t just grab somebody’s foot taking off in a full sprint.”

Green was ejected after being issued a Flagrant 2 foul for stomping on Sabonis’ chest after the latter tangled up with Green’s legs while attempting to grab a rebound. The Warriors veteran’s actions were widely condemned on social media, though he did find some support coming from Damian Lillard and Shaquille O’Neal.

Thompson ended his evening with 21 points, 5 rebounds, and 8 assists. But his effort, along with Stephen Curry’s 28 points and Andrew Wiggins’ 22 points, wasn’t enough to vault over the Kings’ challenge.

Can The Golden State Warriors Bounce Back In Game 3?

If there’s one respite, it’s that the Warriors will host the Kings in their own backyard. The Chase Center will be the kill box for Game 3, where Golden State will look to stage a comeback and keep their chances of making the second round alive.

The Warriors’ dismal road record in the regular season continued as they have now lost both their games against the Kings. While at it, they also face the possibility of missing Green in the third clash, should the NBA decide to slap the forward with a suspension.

The consecutive losses put Stephen Curry, who has never been 0-2 in the playoffs, under the pump, along with Thompson and the rest of the squad. Time is running out for the Warriors, and they have until Thursday to recalibrate. For now, Sacramento looks to be out-and-out favorites, and only time will tell if the defending champions can rally back into contention.
