Kevin Durant is undoubtedly one of the best players of our generation. Durant has a certain panache in his game that not many players can replicate, even if they try their hardest.

However, if there is one thing that many dislike about Kevin Durant, it is his inability to stay loyal to a single team since leaving the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2016. Well, KD chases rings by joining the Golden State Warriors. It was even more surprising when the Slim Reaper himself tweeted about wanting to be competitive and not join superteams in 2010 when he was still a part of OKC.

KD tweeted: “Now everybody wanna play for the heat and the Lakers? Let’s go back to being competitive and going at these people!”

The reason behind Durant tweeting this was that the Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol-led Los Angeles Lakers were the two-time defending champions of the NBA and the best team in the West.

On the other hand, LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh formed a Big 3 with the Miami Heat. Keeping that in mind, Durant called out everyone who wanted to play for these superteams. Well, a few years down the line, Durant is now known for hopping superteams in his career. Why you ask? Let’s take a look.

Kevin Durant And His Love For Joining Superteams

After giving the first nine seasons of his NBA career to the Oklahoma City Thunder and failing to win an NBA title, Durant finally decided to take his talents to the Warriors in 2016 by joining Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green.

During his three-year stint with the Warriors, Durant won the 2017 and 2018 NBA Championships, while losing the 2019 NBA title. Later, KD joined forces with Kyrie Irving and was later joined by James Harden.

While the team looked amazing on paper, they failed when it mattered the most. After three unsuccessful seasons with the Nets, Durant recently once again joined yet another superteam.

This time around, KD got traded to the Phoenix Suns and joined forces with Chris Paul, Devin Booker, and Deandre Ayton.

The current Durant certainly has a very different mindset than the 2010 KD. Either way, that doesn’t mean he is still not one of the best players in the league. If anything, the Suns’ superstar keeps adding more weapons to his arsenal.
