Mikal Bridges is no longer a member of the Phoenix Suns but his former teammates still have a lot of love for him.
With the Brooklyn Nets in the playoff race and as they could potentially face the Milwaukee Bucks, Chris Paul sent Bridges a football helmet to protect him from Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Giannis is such a physical player and he can, at times, cause some harm to his opponents. When he played against the Suns recently, Antetokounmpo accidentally hit Torey Craig in the face and caused him to lose a tooth, which is why Paul is sending this helmet to Bridges.

That must have been painful but Craig was able to carry on and finish the game. The Suns weren’t happy with the way Giannis played and this is a bit of a shot at him, as many have accused him of playing basketball like it is football. This helmet Paul has given Bridges is a customized Nets one with the “MB” initials and his jersey number at the back, so he clearly put some thought into it as well.
Mikal Bridges Has Shone For The Nets
There was some amazement at the fact that the Suns were able to acquire Kevin Durant from the Nets without giving up an All-Star, but Bridges is certainly playing like one right now. He is averaging 25.4 PPG, 4.5 RPG, and 2.5 APG while shooting 49.2% from the field and 40.6% from beyond the arc.
He has been a big reason why the Nets haven’t completely collapsed after trading away Durant and Kyrie Irving. They are currently the sixth seed with a 39-33 record and will be in the play-in tournament, at the very least. Despite the Nets’ success, the Cleveland Cavaliers want to face them in the playoffs, as per NBA insider Chris Fedor, as they believe it would be their easiest path out of round one. While the Cavs certainly would be the favorites, they should perhaps be a bit careful of what they wish for.
