Contrary to popular belief, Draymond Green doesn’t consider the Memphis Grizzlies as the Golden State Warriors’ rivals, and he has his reason.

Per Warriors reporter Madeline Kenny, “Anyone can win a game in March,” Green said. “Rivalries are created by you win, I win. Clearly we’ve won four times and their organization has zero championships.”

This comes on the back of the Warriors’ humbling 131-110 loss to the Ja Morant-less Grizzlies. And while there were enough fireworks between Green and Dillon Brooks, who has been relentless in his scathing comments on the Warriors’ veteran, the latter refused to acknowledge his opponents as rivals.

Green ended his evening with 16 points, 5 rebounds, and 7 assists. The season so far has him propping up 8.5 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 6.8 assists.

As far as the rivalry chatter goes, Green was not going to let Brooks get away scot-free for his mockery. He aptly reminded the Memphis forward that the Warriors had enough titles to show for and that Brooks would do well to back up the big talk with at least one championship.

Dillon Brooks Continues His Tirade Against Draymond Green

Brooks was not done even after his mid-game altercation with Green, and the eventual win. Speaking in his post-game interview, he took another shot at the forward.

“You should give that mic to Draymond,” Brooks said. “Make him keep talking about me so I can play better. That’s what I do. I talk. Keep doing his podcast, keep blogging, and keep doing your thing off the court. It’s cute, it’s fun.”

It’s worth noting that Green had a better outing than Brooks in the game. The latter had 14 points, 4 boards, and 6 assists. On the whole, he’s averaging 14.4 points. 3.3 rebounds, and 2.5 assists leading Green only on the scoring aspect.

The Warriors and the Grizzlies have had their share of history, but the recent buzz that started since their first encounter this season will surely continue to churn headlines. Only time will tell how it all eventually pans out between the two players. For now, there’s no love for sure.
