The Golden State Warriors couldn’t keep up with the Memphis Grizzlies without Ja Morant, as the Grizz pulled off a dominant 110-131 win at home.

The Warriors’ road record has fallen to 7-26 on the season, as the team falls from the 5th seed to the 8th seed in the West. Fans are disappointed in the defending champions, especially after all the trash talk from Draymond Green in recent days.

A fan spoke about an absentee player, “Obviously itโ€™s just a game and family is more important but the Warriors severely miss Andrew Wiggins.”

Another fan said age is catching up to them. “father time against the Warriors this season.”

Some fans are even trying to put the blame on Stephen Curry, “The Warriors have a 14-12 record without Steph this season which is above .500. Since Steph Curryโ€™s return, they are now 0-3 in games heโ€™s played. Is he the problem?”

A Grizzlies fan was overjoyed, “THE GRIZZLIES HAVE WON A GAME WHILE THE WARRIORS MOVE TO 0-5 AFTER STEPHโ€™S RETURN.”

Analyst Chris Veron also weighed in, “The Grizzlies stomped the Warriors. #newsworthy.”

The Warriors’ defense went completely AWOL, as the Grizzlies had 3 20-point scorers, with Tyus Jones scoring 22 points, while Desmond Bane and Jaren Jackson Jr. had 21 points each. Stephen Curry tried and scored 29 points on good efficiency, but the Warriors’ inability to stop anyone ended up causing their downfall.

Even after cutting a 30-point deficit down to just 7 points, the Warriors went cold in the fourth quarter and only scored 17 points as a team compared to the Grizzs’ 32 points.

Can The Warriors Still Be Called Contenders?

For most of the season, fans and media have continued calling the Warriors among the top contenders in the West due to their proven playoff pedigree. However, they’ve barely been above .500 for most of the season and now have a 34-33 record after this loss.

The Western Conference is closely tied through the middle, so it’d be foolish to say that Golden State can’t find what they need in a 7-game series with a title at the end of it. The Sacramento Kings would struggle in the first round against a team like Golden State, in theory. But the more we see of GSW’s inability to defend and fluctuating levels of focus, the more people should be worried about their current state.

This team may be forced to have a big offseason in the summer that’ll break their title core up forever, with Bob Myers and Draymond Green possibly exiting. If this is their Last Dance, the Warriors need to lock in and finish the season with pride.
