The Colorado police on Monday said they have begun an investigation into Ja Morant after he streamed the video of what reportedly looked like him brandishing a gun on Instagram Live.
The reason behind the investigation is to see whether the Memphis Grizzlies star broke any laws. His video was believed to have been filmed in Glendale. Per 9News.com, Captain Jamie Dillon said the cops did not receive any complaints regarding Morant’s actions, but they have begun looking into it after the video went viral.
This update comes on the back of the NBA’s investigation of a January 29 incident in Memphis. On his part, the guard issued an apology through his agent on Saturday, saying he is “going to take some time away to get help and work on learning better methods of dealing with stress and my overall well-being.”
Taylor Jenkins Says There Is No Timetable On Ja Morant’s Return From Suspension
In what comes as dire news for the Memphis Grizzlies and their fans, the head coach, Taylor Jenkins, revealed that his star player’s hiatus might be more than just the two games that he’s suspended for.
Speaking to the media, “Very tough moment. Everyone knows I’m not going to comment on internal conversations we’ve had as a team with Ja, we’ve had as a leadership group,” Jenkins said.
“That’s what we’re dialoguing about, we’re going to be supportive, but we’re going to hold him accountable as well… There’s no definitive timeline,” he further added. “We’ve said it’ll be at least 2 games, but we’re taking it one day at a time. This is going to be an ongoing healing process, so I can’t comment on what the exact timetable will be because this is not a timetable situation.”
The Grizzlies will be hoping that Morant will recover and the murky turn of events will soon be behind him and the team as well as they gear up to make the playoffs and a deeper run in the next stage. But for now, he’s dealing with a few things, and the updates continue to trickle in.
