Ja Morant is on a slippery slope at the moment, with the Memphis Grizzlies star finding himself in trouble for one reason or another.

Morant only had himself to blame for the latest incident, as he flashed a gun on his Instagram Live, and former NFL wide receiver Dez Bryant sent him a powerful message in response.

“if you know and love @JaMorant put your arms around him and tell him the truth… Ja you got a special ability them other n****s around you don’t.. and if the n****s around you loved you.. it’s no way you would be flashing that gun..I don’t care if you was to say it’s no foul play to having that gun on your live that’s a no go!”

“it’s kids especially black kids with dreams living in poverty who love basketball trying to make it out.. you are special boss.. f*** that dumb shit… you are a role model regardless if you see it or not…your name hold weight.. make peace with whatever problems you are dealing with and elevate.. all love on this end “

if you know and love @JaMorant put your arms around him and tell him the truth… Ja you got a special ability them other niggas around you don’t.. and if the niggas around you loved you.. it’s no way you would be flashing that gun..I don’t care if you was to say it’s no foul…

Everyone needs people around them who tell them what they need to hear, not always what they want to hear. Ja’s crew should know that they cannot allow him to continue on this path as it will ultimately lead to his downfall. He may not want to hear that at the moment, but that message has to get across.

He is also a role model as Dez says, with millions of kids looking up to him and this is not the example you want to set for them. Morant has had an incredible rise to fame and his continued excellence on the court where he is averaging 27.1 PPG, 8.2 APG, and 6.0 RPG this season is what everyone should be talking about. Instead, the conversation around him for a long time is now going to be about his off-the-court issues.

Nike Is Standing By Ja Morant Despite Recent Events

The Grizzlies suspended Morant for at least two games for this gun incident and it remains to be seen just how long they keep him out of action. There was talk about whether Nike would cut ties with Ja after all that has happened, but the brand is standing by him.

They released a statement, saying they appreciated his accountability and that they support his decision of prioritizing his well-being. It immediately caused many to point out that the company had severed ties with Kyrie Irving over his controversies but was choosing to stand by Ja here. It is sure to be a topic of conversation for a while.
