Kawhi Leonard and Paul George are reportedly keen on adding James Harden to the Los Angeles Clippers.
Per Sam Amick of The Athletic, Harden is likely to land with the Clippers and the only question is if Sixers president of basketball operations Daryl Morey will be okay with the surprise idea.
He further added: Both Kawhi Leonard and Paul George are said to be on board with the idea of Harden potentially joining their core, according to sources.
Earlier, it was reported that the Clippers were one of the teams that would make a beeline for the guard after he picked up his $35.6 million player option so that he could work with Philadelphia to be traded to another franchise.
Should Harden indeed become a Clipper, the starting lineup of the team looks stacked and transforms them into legitimate title contenders along with the Phoenix Suns.
With Leonard and George both going through injury-riddled seasons, the addition of Harden will be a welcome sight for the Clippers. But with Russell Westbrook’s re-signing in the mix, it’s interesting to see how this deal unfolds.
The Sixers Didn’t See A Long-Term Future With James Harden
Soon after Harden picked up his option effectively saying that he had played his last game for Philadelphia, NBA insider Shams Charania reckoned why the guard made an exit move.
“The 76ers made it clear throughout the process that the franchise did not see a long-term future with Harden, sources said,’ Charania opined.
The Los Angeles Clippers look like prime favorites to land Harden and they have the necessary assets to transfer to the Sixers. It will surely be a win-win for both teams and now it appears another Big 4 is on the cards if he indeed makes a dash to LA.
