The Los Angeles Lakers will be making their moves this offseason carefully knowing that LeBron James‘ tenure with the Lakers could be in its final season. James has a player option for over $50 million in 2024, but there’s a good chance he’ll decline it.

LeBron has made it clear that he wants to play alongside Bronny, his son, when he makes it to the NBA. Brian Windhorst believes playing with Bronny means more to LeBron than winning another ring, which will likely influence his decision in 2024.

“I honestly believe LeBron James cares more about playing with Bronny than he does about winning another ring.”

Bronny was projected to go 17th to the Atlanta Hawks in the NBA Draft by ESPN in their first 2024 mock, causing even Trae Young to react to the James family possibly coming to Atlanta

The Lakers had the 17th pick in 2023, but they do not own their pick in 2024, as it is the final piece that the Lakers have to send New Orleans in the Anthony Davis trade.

Will LeBron Ignore A Title To Play With Bronny?

Bronny will likely be a lottery pick by virtue of the chance that the team that drafts him can also sign LeBron on a possible one-year deal. The financial incentives to do so for whichever team is in that position will be incredible. Thankfully, it seems Bronny has the tools to immediately impact the game in the NBA as a potential All-Defensive guard prospect.

Teams in championship situations will make a run at LeBron if he’s hitting free agency and willing to take less money. If those teams also make trades to acquire a pick that they could use on Bronny, it could be the perfect storm. LeBron, in his retirement season, competing for a title alongside his son is a story that even Hollywood wouldn’t think to write.
