For much of this 2022-23 NBA season, the Golden State Warriors have looked like a shell of their former selves.

The defending champions have failed to live up to expectations, but Klay Thompson believes they are getting back on track and that no one would want to play them in the playoffs if they’re healthy.

“I feel it, yeah,” Thompson said. “We all feel it. With 20 games left, it’s such a golden opportunity for us to increase our seeding. Just get in a great rhythm and guys are getting such great experience right now, it’s going to pay off huge come playoff time. And I promise you this, when we’re healthy, no one wants to see us in the postseason. I promise you that. We expect to win a championship while we are here. Everything else is falling short and that’s a privileged position to be in. Not many franchises can wholeheartedly say that.”

Injuries are definitely a big reason why the Warriors have struggled this season. Stephen Curry has played in just 38 games while Andrew Wiggins has played in 37 and they were easily the Warriors’ best players in last year’s title run. Curry said something along the same lines as Thompson as well, as he stated that if they are healthy come playoffs, they will be a tough outing for anyone.

The worrying thing though, is that even when this team was healthy, they really struggled to consistently win games. The Warriors have managed to string together 4 wins in a row just once this season, which isn’t great. They have also been terrible on their travels with a 7-23 record, all of which is why there are concerns about whether this team can defend their title. Then again, there were plenty of concerns regarding the Warriors last season as well, and they went on to win it all.

Can The Warriors Turn Things Around?

We saw some vintage Warriors magic on Tuesday night as they went on one of their trademark 3rd quarter explosions to turn the tide against the Portland Trail Blazers. The Warriors were down 65-48 at half-time but then completely dominated the rest of the way to win 123-105.

It was their 3rd straight win which allowed them to climb up to 5th in the standings. With Curry set to return soon and Klay seemingly back to his best, the Warriors could catch fire heading into the playoffs, which would be a real worry for the rest of the league.
