LeBron James has been on a historic tear in 2023, scoring at will in every game he plays. Opponents cannot seem to slow LeBron down, and he has been on a different level as he continues to chase the all-time scoring record. LeBron James has scored 35 or more points in 6 of his last 11 games, which is absurd for a person that is now 38 years of age.

It would feel a lot better if the Los Angeles Lakers were winning consistently, that’s for sure. LeBron James has spoken about how little records matter to him if his team isn’t winning. And there have been suggestions that despite his prowess, he can no longer carry a team to success. Recently, NBA analyst Rob Parker doubled down on this take, taking a shot at LeBron and his big scoring games.

“You just scored 46; you’re unbelievable. You’re gonna lead the league in scoring, but your team’s not gonna make the playoffs.”

Parker went on to explain that all this would be a lot more impressive if the Lakers had won a lot of the games the King scored big in.

“Are you kidding me? If he scores 46 and they beat the Clippers and they put together three wins in a row after that big comeback in Portland, maybe. But you’re glad-handing LeBron for getting blown out.”

This seems like a bit of a harsh take considering that Anthony Davis has been missing and that the Lakers’ roster has admittedly been poor this season. But Parker seems to think that it is indicative of where the King has reached in his career.

Rob Parker Says It’s Just Easier To Score In The Modern NBA

Winning or not, most can agree that LeBron James doing this at his age is a phenomenon unlike anything the league has ever seen. But according to Parker, that has more to do with the current era of basketball.

“For the Lakers, this is it. LeBron doesn’t impact winning. I’m not mad at him. It’s easier to score in the NBA than it ever has been.”

While there is some truth to this, the Los Angeles Lakers are far from out of the playoff race at this moment. The team has every chance of making it to the postseason, and if LeBron James can lead them to some success at that point, he will be reminding all of his doubters of the things they are saying now.
