Ahead of his Christmas Day showdown against the Golden State Warriors, Grizzlies point guard Ja Morant is on the verge of something big.
A few hours ago, via Instagram, Ja posted a mysterious story that seemingly hinted at the release of his first signature shoe. While no date has been confirmed, it seems tomorrow (Christmas Day 2022) is going to mark the official launch of Morant’s Nike line.

Ja is long overdue for his own kicks, so it’s nice to see Nike finally stepping up and delivering what the fans want (and what Ja deserves). We don’t know what the kicks look like yet, but there’s no question they will sell fast with Morant’s name behind it.
As one of the biggest stars in the game today, Morant is a premier box-office attraction that has elevated the Grizzlies franchise into a serious player in the West. But how far can he get with this team?
Ja Morant Says He’s Not Worried About Western Conference Competition
After a run to the Conference Semi-Finals last season, the Grizzlies have emerged as a powerhouse in the NBA. With Ja, Desmond Bane, Dillon Brooks, and Jaren Jackson Jr., Memphis has title aspirations, and Morant isn’t apologizing for it.
This week, in a sit-down with ESPN’s Malika Andrews, Morant flexed that confidence yet again when asked to identify potential threats across the league. Besides the Boston Celtics, Ja didn’t have much else to say and seemed unbothered by the mention of competitors in the West.
Malika Andrews: “Who do you look at around the league as you’re studying and say, ‘We’re gonna have to run through them?'”
Ja Morant: “Celtics”
Andrews: “No one in the West.”
Morant: “Nah. I’m fine in the West.”
When given the opportunity to back down from his bold claims, Ja only doubled down on his faith in the Grizzlies.
Ja Morant was asked about his “I’m fine in the west” comments at shootaround.
Ja: “And I’m standing on that. I stamp it,” he said.
Reporter: What about the Suns?
Ja: “They are in the Western Conference, right? I said I was fine in the Western Conference.”
So, clearly, Morant has every belief that his squad will be raising the Larry O’Brien trophy when it’s all said and done. Whether or not he’s right about that remains to be seen.
For now, all he’s focused on is winning this upcoming game against the Warriors. Because, even without Steph, the Dubs should never be counted out, and you can bet that Ja will not be taking them lightly.
