The Brooklyn Nets were one of the most disappointing teams of the entire NBA season. They were viewed as championship contenders at the start of the year due to the amount of star power. A variety of circumstances prevented that, and the Brooklyn Nets were eliminated in the first round.

Twitter page StatMuse has recently shared an unflattering fact about the Brooklyn Nets. Despite the fact that they were the “betting favorite” to win this year’s championship, the Brooklyn Nets ended up as the only team that got swept in this year’s playoffs.

The Nets were the betting favorite to win the 2022 championship.

They are the only team to get swept this playoffs.

There is no doubt that this is a disappointing fact to hear if one is a Brooklyn Nets fan. A team with Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving should be better than a first-round exit, let alone a first-round sweep. There’s no doubt that the absence of Ben Simmons was felt on the defensive side of the ball. Kyrie Irving’s part-time status affected the team as well, with former assistant coach Amar’e Stoudemire admitting as much:

“Yeah, I think it hurt us. It definitely hurt us because we didn’t have the consistency with Kyrie enough to build chemistry for the group with the team. He plays only on away games depending on which city it is, can’t play in New York, therefore you have different lineups and different matchups depending on the game schedule.”

“So it made it difficult for us coaches to figure out who’s going to play in spite of Kyrie. The chemistry is not where we would like it to be, so it was difficult for us to manage that. So yeah, it was definitely part of that.”

Hopefully, we see the Brooklyn Nets bounce back next season, and there’s no doubt that they should be a much better team by the playoffs next season, as they’ll get the opportunity to gel and develop chemistry.

If things go right for them, it is quite possible that the Brooklyn Nets end up being a contender due to the talent on their roster. We’ll see if that will happen, but any team with a superstar and two All-Star caliber players should be in the running for the title.
