It’s a new year, we’re in 2022, but the Ben Simmons saga is still showing no signs of slowing down. Simmons has been out since requesting a trade from the Philadelphia 76ers in August and has held out from playing since, citing reasons such as mental health for not suiting up.

His failure to comply with the team has resulted in them fining Simmons a number of times for failing to report to the team. The former All-Star has lost over $10M to fines already this season and will continue to lose even more money as the season wears on.

Naturally, his refusal to play has made him a bit of a scapegoat among fans, with lots of people openly showing their disdain for the Australian. Simmons has burned a number of bridges, especially in the city of Philadelphia, leading to some pretty heavy criticism.

The latest person to let loose on Ben is rapper Fat Joe, who made his feelings about the Sixers guard very clear by going on an expletive laden rant to his followers and referring to Simmons as the biggest loser in the universe.

“The Biggest Loser in the universe is Ben Simmons. What the f**k he doing? What’d he say? He can’t come back and play? Like, Ben Simmons, biggest jerk. He done lost too much money or whatever the case may be.”

The Sixers have been trying to trade Ben Simmons for a while now but GM Daryl Morey’s asking price seems to be a bit too high. The latest rumors have revolved around a possible swap with Boston Celtics man Jaylen Brown. In any case, it doesn’t look like a solution will be reached at any point soon.

While Ben Simmons may be struggling professionally, it’s unlikely he feels like the ‘biggest loser in the universe’, with recent news revealing that he is engaged to British TV presenter Maya Jama. In any case, both Simmons and his team will be hoping that the situation is resolved soon and everyone involved can go back to focusing on basketball.
