Adam Silver Reveals The All-Star Game Being In Cleveland Played A Factor In Jarrett Allen Being Selected As An Injury Replacement For James Harden

Jarrett Allen has been having a stellar season for the Cleveland Cavaliers, and he’s one of the reasons that they have had a very outstanding year. Currently, Jarrett Allen is averaging 16.2 PPG, 11.0 RPG, and 1.8 APG for the Cavaliers, while shooting an astounding 66.6% from beyond the arc.

This year’s play from Jarrett Allen has paid off, as he was selected as an All-Star replacement for James Harden. In an interview with Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com, Adam Silver revealed that the All-Star game being in Cleveland played a factor in the selection, but stated that Allen is “having an All-Star season”, and added that “he deserves to be recognized”.

There are a few players having outstanding seasons that could have been selected for these first two slots. The coaches pick the reserves, but we have access to all their votes, so we do look to see who the players next in line in terms of coach voting. That becomes relevant.

But I think at the end of the day, particularly as we add All-Stars with the Commissioner’s selections, the markets become relevant. In the case of LaMelo, Charlotte was able to be represented, which they hadn’t been before he was added. I’m not going to say it’s not a factor that the All-Star Game was in Cleveland this year, but even independent of that, Jarrett Allen is having an All-Star season and there’s no doubt he deserves to be recognized

There is no doubt that the Cleveland Cavaliers simply wouldn’t be the same without Jarrett Allen on both ends. He is an amazing center who can anchor a defense, and provide some interior scoring.

Hopefully, we see Jarrett Allen play well in the All-Star game. He will be teammates with his Cavaliers co-star Darius Garland, but also with a former Cavalier in LeBron James. It will certainly be exciting to watch Jarrett Allen sky above the rim, and his dunks will certainly impress the audience.
