Anthony Davis is one of the most successful players of his generation and will likely be remembered as one of the best that the 2010s had to offer. The former champion has undeniably lived up to his hype.

Sadly, injuries have slowed AD’s progress down significantly. He struggles to stay out on the court, and the Lakers have paid the price for it. His rookie basketball card had a value of $181,200 in March 2021 but has fallen 93% to $12,000 in 2 years.

Davis had struggled with injuries in 2021, but the Lakers weren’t considered as far gone as they have been in the last season. Most of the value must have dropped in 2021-22 when AD was barely available, and the Lakers ended up missing the playoffs. If the Lakers can live up to their current roster and make a playoff run this season, the value would likely shoot back up.

Has Anthony Davis Hurt His Legacy In The Last 2 Seasons?

Anthony Davis was one of the most hyped players when he was traded to the Lakers in 2019. He delivered on the promise of a championship with LeBron James in his first season, but the team has struggled mightily since. His rookie card falling so heavily in value could be exaggerations due to AD’s inconsistent availability, but his stock is definitely not going to be as high as it was in the 20-21 season unless the Lakers can somehow win another title.

AD can’t be faulted entirely for decisions that the team makes with regard to forcing him to sit out back-to-backs. But the team is making those decisions based on the troubling injury history that has torpedoed the last two seasons for AD and the team.  This card will be more valuable in a few years, but if AD keeps proving himself to be unreliable, it may never recover.
