Superstar Anthony Davis is clearly one of the faces of the Los Angeles Lakers, and many fans appreciate his ability on both ends of the floor. He is clearly one of the most naturally talented players in the league, and Davis’ only issue is consistency.
Recently, Lakers guard Austin Reaves offered some huge praise to Anthony Davis. Reaves claimed that Davis doesn’t get enough recognition defensively. Reaves added that the big man is “the most skilled player” he has witnessed behind LeBron James.
“He’s obviously a good person to have on your team,” Reaves said. “Especially defensively, I don’t think [Anthony Davis] gets enough credit for what he does for us as guards, knowing you have him as a rim protector you can be more physical, more aggressive… He’s arguably right behind [LeBron James] as the most skilled player I’ve ever seen.”
Austin Reaves thinks AD doesn’t get the credit he deserves as a top-tier defender in the league.

It is clear that Austin Reaves has a high opinion of Anthony Davis, and for good reason. The big man was crucial in the team getting to the Western Conference Finals, with him notably having a huge impact during the Memphis Grizzlies series. However, Davis does need to be more dominant offensively, and perhaps we can see more of that next season.
There is no doubt that Anthony Davis had a productive 2022-23 season with the Los Angeles Lakers, averaging 25.9 PPG, 12.5 RPG, and 2.6 APG. Ultimately though, the playoffs are where Anthony Davis will be judged, and we’ll see if Davis can lead the Lakers to another championship next season.
Anthony Davis Is Expected To Sign An Extension With The Los Angeles Lakers
No one can deny the value that Anthony Davis brings to the Los Angeles Lakers. In fact, the team clearly recognizes that, and it was previously reported that Davis is expected to sign an extension with the team before training camp.
“You also recognize that LeBron turning 39 years old and entering Year 21 has a limited window, so then to try to coalesce with a new group if you were to find this beautiful trade for Anthony Davis, that’s folly, you could be wasting what’s left of LeBron and then beyond that, listen, we know the business of this league. If there’s no extension offered, what do you do? You apply pressure the other way and say I want out. So I’m fairly confident that Anthony Davis will come into training camp with an extended deal.”
The Los Angeles Lakers are clearly prioritizing competing immediately with LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Hopefully, they get far next season, and they’ll definitely be one of the top contenders in the Western Conference.
