The Portland Trail Blazers GM Joe Cronin shared a key update on Damian Lillard’s trade.

Per NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski, the Blazers GM is in no hurry to trade his star guard.

“Blazers GM Joe Cronin tells reporters on a Damian Lillard trade: “If it takes months, it takes months.”

This potentially means that Lillard could remain in the Blazers’ ranks if Miami fails to provide the appealing kind of assets for the 32-year-old — something Cronin is adamant on.

Earlier, NBA insider Shams Charania had opined that ample first-round picks were in order for the Blazers in the Lillard trade.

“There is a framework with Miami where Portland could end up with three or four first-round draft picks. Miami has two that they can trade out, I think there are multiple teams that would trade out at least one first-round pick for Tyler Herro, so maybe you’re looking at expiring contracts, potentially three first-round picks, maybe assets for Damian Lillard.”

The latest update though by Woj, seems concerning.

Damian Lillard Wouldn’t Report To Play Next Season If It’s Not For The Heat, Says NBA Insider

While the latest update will sound alarming to those who have believed that Damian Lillard’s to the Heat is inevitable, a previous take from an NBA insider was that the 32-year-old guard wouldn’t report to play if it was a different team

“‘He just wouldn’t go,’ a person familiar with Lillard’s thinking told Mark Medina of Sportsnaut. ‘He just wouldn’t report.'”

“I don’t think the other team would trade for him knowing that he doesn’t want to be there,” the person familiar with Lillard’s thinking told Sportsnaut. “He’s a first-ballot Hall-of-Famer so they should respect his wishes.”

Should a trade not come through, chances are that Medina’s take will turn out to be the truth.
