The Los Angeles Lakers lost in the Western Conference Finals to the Denver Nuggets, and this was a disappointing outcome for a team that had championship expectations after the trade deadline.

It seems as though some changes need to be made for the Lakers to become a true championship-level team. There are reportedly some players that are interested in joining them, and a recent article by Peter Dewey of Lakers Daily revealed that Bobby Portis wants to come to the Lakers to rejoin coach Darvin Ham.

“Milwaukee Bucks big man Bobby Portis could be an option for the Los Angeles Lakers this offseason as they look to solidify their frontcourt rotation behind Anthony Davis. According to a source, Portis is interested in joining the Lakers to reunite with former head coach Darvin Ham.”

“Ham left the Bucks following the 2021-22 season to take the Lakers coaching job. He helped coach the Bucks during their NBA Finals run in the 2020-21 season with Portis on the roster.”

Bobby Portis could definitely be an interesting frontcourt partner for Anthony Davis, as he is an elite rebounder and defender who also has the ability to space the floor. He is a quality role player to have, and his championship experience could be useful for the Lakers as well.

This regular season, Bobby Portis averaged 14.1 PPG, 9.6 RPG, and 1.5 APG for the Milwaukee Bucks. He played off the bench for the team, but it’s clear that he could thrive as a starter as well.

The Los Angeles Lakers Are Also Targeting Naz Reid

The Los Angeles Lakers are clearly interested in adding more overall size this offseason as well. Besides Bobby Portis, it was also reported that the team has an interest in Minnesota Timberwolves big man Naz Reid.

“Minnesota Timberwolves big man Naz Reid could be an option for the Los Angeles Lakers this offseason in free agency,” reported Lakers Daily. “Sources tell Lakers Daily that the Lakers are interested in acquiring Reid, who will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason.”

Naz Reid is a solid player who deserves a bigger role, and he could definitely get more minutes on the Lakers, who don’t have a lot of elite big men besides Anthony Davis. He could even be a starter, and his 3PT shooting ability suggests he could be a solid fit in the frontcourt with Anthony Davis. He will likely command interest from other teams as well, and we’ll see where he ends up in the future.
