The Denver Nuggets are getting ready to face the dangerous Miami Heat in the 2023 NBA Finals after sweeping the Los Angeles Lakers in the Western Conference Finals.

Seeing their level during the first three series of the playoffs, the way they eliminated the Lakers, and the level they’re playing at right now, it’s easy to consider them the favorites in this matchup. Well, Nikola Jokic doesn’t agree with that, warning everybody about the dangers of this series.

“I think we’re not the favorites,” Nikola Jokic said, via Mark J. Spears of ESPN. “In the Finals there are no favorites. This is going to be the hardest games of our lives.”

Jokic always tries to keep it real, and he knows that this is a series for the championship that everybody would love to win. Still, the Serbian big man has played at an incredible level, and with 10 days of rest, it’s hard not to see the Nuggets as the favorites coming into this series.

Then again, you should never be confident against the Miami Heat and every team that faced them in the prior rounds is well aware of that. They took out the No. 1 seed and league-best record owners Milwaukee Bucks in the first round, then took care of the New York Knicks. Ultimately, they got rid of the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals.

Everybody seems to be sleeping on Miami again, but Jokic isn’t falling for that. Just like Aaron Gordon said, they will take this series with all seriousness and won’t relax. They will try to beat the Heat and leave no doubt that they’re the best team in the league.

Nikola Jokic Also Has A Blurry Response On Whether He’s The Best Player In The NBA Right Now

Jokic was asked more questions about being the best, and he gave an honest response. When discussing if he is the best player in the league, once again, he kept it real, making it clear that he’s not all the time.

“Sometimes I am and sometimes I’m not. And I’m cool with that.”

The Denver Nuggets are four wins away from completing a historic run. They will play in their first NBA Finals in franchise history, while a series of pieces of this Miami Heat group already knows the experience of playing in the Finals.

Moreover, this team has the most Finals appearances in the league since 2006, which is a lot.

The Finals start this Thursday at Ball Arena, with the Nuggets set to make a statement and pick things right where they left them against the Lakers, beating the Heat in a big fashion.
