The 2022-23 NBA is a minimum of four games away from its end, with fans and analysts reflecting on the things we saw during the season and what players deserve praise, and what players need to be criticized.

Stephen A. Smith’s infamous lists keep coming, and earlier today, he shared his top 5 NBA players who are worthy of a supermax deal. He picked five incredible legends for this list but ignored one that has done an incredible job in the regular season and is four wins away from becoming an NBA champion.

1. Stephen Curry

2. LeBron James

3. Giannis Antetokounmpo

4. Luka Doncic

5. Jayson Tatum

There’s no Nikola Jokic in sight for Stephen A. despite being the reigning defending back-to-back MVP award winner before Joel Embiid dethroned him this season. The Serbian big man, who is used to being ignored by the media, is having a magical playoff run, taking his team to its first NBA Finals appearance.

Jokic keeps playing the game at the highest level, he makes everything looks easy and has control over everything on the court. The Nuggets play for him too, and Jokic pays back with his big plays.

He just won the Magic Johnson award for the Western Conference Finals MVP and is now ready to go for more. One day before the start of the Finals, Jokic averages 29.9 points, 13.3 rebounds, and 10.3 assists in 15 games during this run.

If somebody deserves a supermax contract, that’s Nikola Jokic. He already has one of the most expensive deals in NBA history, and after this one is up, one can only imagine the type of money he’ll get next.

Nikola Jokic And His Denver Nuggets Are Set To Win The 2023 NBA Championship

The Nuggets are inspired, and after beating the Kevin Durant and Devin Booker-led Phoenix Suns in the second round and sweeping the LeBron James and Anthony Davis-led Los Angeles Lakers, they will host the surprising Miami Heat in the 2023 NBA Finals.

Jokic, Jamal Murray, Aaron Gordon, Michael Porter Jr., Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, and more will be ready to face a team that isn’t afraid of anybody and will put up a big fight to try to beat the Nuggets. Still, as long as they have Jokic on the roster, Denver will be a tough challenge for anybody.
