The Boston Celtics lost in the Eastern Conference Finals this year to the Miami Heat, and many have criticized their key players for not being able to get back to the NBA Finals. Some have even advocated for major changes within the organization and moving key players to try and shake things up.

With that being said, there’s some value in continuity, especially for a team that ended up making the Finals in 2022. In fact, Warriors forward Draymond Green suggested that the team needs to do everything to keep their core together.

“I personally do all I can to keep it together. When you find some guys you can get there with, then you have to find pieces that can get it done…You don’t figure it out by abandoning everything that you’ve had.”

At the end of the day, the Boston Celtics have a potential MVP in Jayson Tatum and an All-NBA talent in Jaylen Brown. That is a great foundation for winning a championship, and the team is clearly only a piece away from greatness.

Kendrick Perkins Views The Celtics’ Season As A Failure

Even if no major changes are made, it is clear that the Celtics need to regroup and improve ahead of next season. In fact, former Celtic Kendrick Perkins claimed that this was a championship-level team and added that the Celtics’ season was a “complete failure”.

“A complete failure, a disappointment, a bust. To start the season, this was the team that was the favorite to win it all. They added Malcolm Brogdon, they had nothing missing as far as winning a championship. And I’m disappointed in the city of Boston and the state of Massachusetts,” said Perk. “They’ve been attacking me but I didn’t know the bar and the standard was making it there. In the eight and a half years I was in Boston, it was always called the city of champions… this was a bust and I’m very disappointed in the Celtics fan base on how they handled this season.”

It will be interesting to see how the Celtics recover from their inability to win a championship this season. They will reportedly lose three of their assistant coaches to the Houston Rockets, and it is clear that there will be changes in that department at the very least.
