Breaking: Giannis Antetokounmpo Has Won Second Consecutive MVP Award

2 Min Read

Giannis Antetokounmpo had a terrific regular season with the Milwaukee Bucks, taking his team to have the best record in the league (56-17) after improving his game from last season. The Greek Freak was on another level before the NBA shut down and he looked like a lock to win the 2020 NBA MVP award. Despite his struggles in the bubble, not so many people doubt that Giannis was on the way to win his second consecutive MVP award and today that’s been confirmed.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Giannis has won the coveted award, beating Los Angeles Lakers’ LeBron James and the Houston Rockets’ James Harden.

In 63 games with the Bucks, Giannis posted 29.5 points, 13.6 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game, while shooting 55.3% from the field and 63.3% from the free-throw line.

He had already won the Defensive Player of the Year award and now he’s joined a selected club as the third player in NBA history to win the MVP and the DPOY awards in the same season, joining the likes of Michael Jordan and Hakeem Olajuwon.

Even though the season finished dramatically for the Bucks, who were dismantled by the Miami Heat in the second round, Giannis was the best player in the regular season and this award is the confirmation of that.
