The James family (and the NBA community itself) received a real scare this week after it was revealed that Bronny, son of NBA legend LeBron James, collapsed during a workout due to a cardiac arrest. He was rushed to the hospital and quickly treated before things got worse.
Now, according to NBA insider Shams Charania, Bronny is resting at the family home in stable condition thanks, in part, to the USC medical staff who had James fully conscious before he arrived at the hospital.
“Thanks to the swift and effective response by the USC athletics’ medical staff, Bronny James was successfully treated for a sudden cardiac arrest. He arrived at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center fully conscious, neurologically intact, and stable. Mr. James was cared for promptly by highly-trained medical staff and has been discharged home, where he is resting. Although his workup will be ongoing, we are hopeful for his continued progress and are encouraged by his response, resilience, and his family and community support.”

It’s obviously great news that Bronny has started the healing process already, but the investigation into this ordeal is not yet over.
As of now, we still don’t know what actually caused Bronny’s heart to stop, and it’s likely more tests will be run to determine what actually went wrong.
Will Bronny Make A Full Recovery?
At such a young age, it’s almost unfathomable that Bronny would experience a health scare this serious, but it’s important to remember that all sports activities come with risk, and the more intensely you play, the more likely it is that something will go wrong.
The good news for Bronny is that the damage may not be permanent.
“The fact that Bronny’s already out of the ICU means he’s recovering quickly, I would anticipate that over the near term in the next day, two or three that he should be walking around,” said Cardiac specialist Shephal K. Doshi. “If his brain function is normal, he shouldn’t need to be in the hospital for more than a couple of days. But the big question about a return to play depends on what we find out is the cause.”
