The Milwaukee Bucks let go of Head Coach Mike Budenholzer following their first-round playoff exit against the Miami Heat. After a brief coaching search, they have now appointed former Raptors assistant Adrian Griffin as the new Head Coach.
Adrian Griffin’s coaching credentials include a 15-year career as an assistant, during which time he also helped the Raptors win an NBA championship. But off the court, there are some potentially bigger issues, Griffin was accused of domestic violence with some terrible claims back in 2020.
“In a 2020 social media post, Audrey Griffin accused Adrian of choking her, throwing her into a wall, and dragging her across the lawn while pregnant among other things,” NBA reporter Sam Quinn tweeted. “Griffin has denied the accusations and has not been charged with anything.”

In 2020, when Adrian Griffin took over a game in the Bubble for the Toronto Raptors, his former wife made a Twitter post. In it, she detailed serious abuse at the hands of Griffin.
“How can someone continuously get away with abuse, almost take a life choking them while on the floor and almost passes out, throw them into a wall making a hole as big as their body, drag them across a lawn while pregnant…
“Breaks down locked doors to get to them, gives them STDs, sleeps with prostitutes, sleeps with a teenage ball girl??? And even though you have receipts for EVERYTHING!!!! How can you do ALL of this and still get away with it?? I will tell you how… just be in the NBA and win a game in the bubble. Cinderfella.”

These are some serious allegations, and the two have reportedly been locked in a legal battle for a long time. And as far as Griffin is concerned, he denied them vehemently at the time they came out.

These situations can be tricky, and it’s very difficult to tell what happened and what didn’t. While his former wife’s accusations were spoken about at the time, Griffin’s response was to flatly deny that any of it ever occurred.
“This morning, accusations were made against me on social media by my former wife that I vehemently deny. We are involved in a longstanding legal dispute over alimony and child support arrangements. I am disappointed to have to address false accusations in this way, and I apologize for any distraction this has potentially caused for our team at this important time.”

Adrian Griffin has never been charged with any criminal acts in a court of law, so as things stand, not much has come out of these accusations. However, it is worrisome that they exist, and it is surely something the Milwaukee Bucks looked at long and hard before giving him the position of Head Coach.
