The Milwaukee Bucks have found their new head coach in Toronto, but we’re not talking about 2019 NBA champion Nick Nurse. Instead, they’re taking one of Nurse’s assistant coaches to try to lead this team to the promised land again.

After parting ways with Mike Budenholzer in a controversial way, the Bucks started looking for a new head coach. Now, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports that Adrian Griffin is the man taking this job.

“The Milwaukee Bucks are planning to hire Toronto Raptors assistant Adrian Griffin as the franchise’s next head coach. Sides are progressing on terms of an agreement.”

Wojnarowski clarifies that the team is working on the terms of the deal to make this official and secure Griffin’s services.

“The Bucks are beginning work on financial terms of a contract with Griffin and a deal is expected to be reached soon that’ll make Griffin the franchise’s next head coach, sources said.”

Details are still a work in progress, but the Bucks have found their guy after a long search that included the aforementioned Nick Nurse, Tyronn Lue, Monty Williams and even Doc Rivers.

Curiously, Griffin started his coaching career in Milwaukee 15 years ago, joining the coaching staff in 2008, and being a part of the team for two years. He then joined the Chicago Bulls (2010 to 2015), Orlando Magic (2015-2016), Oklahoma City Thunder (2015-2018), and most recently, the Toronto Raptors (2018 to 2023).

He won the 2019 NBA championship with Nurse and now will try to create his own legacy in the league. After many years helping head coaches, he’s now in charge of his team, set to take these Bucks to the promised land.

This offseason is crucial for Milwaukee, who will have a lot of decisions to make to become a competitive side again.

Milwaukee Bucks Suffered A Big Loss In The 2023 NBA Playoffs

Following a shocking defeat against the Miami Heat in the first round of the playoffs, they parted ways with Mike Budenholzer, and the journey to fix whatever issue they might have this offseason started.

Besides the search for a new head coach, the Bucks have to work on Khris Middleton and Brook Lopez’s contract extensions. Moreover, if they make bad moves, this could prompt Giannis Antetokounmpo not to re-sign with them and leave the team in a couple of seasons.

The Bucks entered the 2023 NBA Playoffs as one of the favorites to win it all this season, but the Miami Heat upset them and started a series of rumors about their future. Hopefully, Griffin is the answer to their problems and they can come back to the NBA Finals after two disappointing losses in the NBA playoffs.
