Buddy Hield is well-known for being one of the best 3PT shooters in the league. He can hit a variety of 3PT shots both off the dribble and off the catch, and his scoring has been key for the Indiana Pacers this season. Currently, Buddy Hield is putting up 17.5 PPG, 4.9 RPG, and 2.7 APG while shooting a blistering 42.6% from the 3PT range on 9.0 attempts a game.

Though his most prominent quality is his shooting, an underrated fact about Buddy Hield is his consistent availability. A recent post from an NBA fan revealed that Hield has only missed 3 games throughout his 7-year career, which is absolutely insane to think about in an era where stars miss more games than ever.

He missed 2 games in November 2017 because of an ankle injury, and he was sidelined for one game due to an illness on April 12, 2021.

He has played every other game possible. There is technically a 4th game that he missed in 2022, but he was in the process of getting traded from Sacramento to Indiana, so I’m not sure if that should count.

Regardless, Buddy Hield (and Mikal Bridges) has been the ultimate iron man the moment he stepped in the league.

Availability is the best ability when it comes to any athlete, and having a player that can consistently come in and perform is crucial for any team. We have seen many teams with injury-prone players, such as the New Orleans Pelicans, struggle this year, and availability is absolutely underrated in the modern NBA.

Buddy Hield Survived The Trade Deadline With The Pacers

There is no doubt that Buddy Hield was a player that was frequently featured in trade rumors this year, most notably being linked to the Los Angeles Lakers. However, the Indiana Pacers elected to keep him past the trade deadline, and this could turn out to be a good move for them.

Buddy Hield notably has great chemistry with point guard Tyrese Haliburton, and they are one of the best shooting backcourts in the league. It made sense for the Pacers to keep Hield if there wasn’t a good value deal for him, and perhaps they could even re-sign him long-term in the future.

At the end of the day, Buddy Hield is one of the most valuable roleplayers in the league due to his high-level shooting and durability. There’s no doubt that he will help the Pacers win more games going forward, and perhaps we’ll see an appearance from them in the play-in tournament.
