It’s not the Brooklyn Nets that Cam Johnson has had to adjust to, but the city’s traffic. The team’s latest acquisition is yet to acclimatize to Brooklyn’s traffic conditions.
Johnson was one of the players involved in the Kevin Durant blockbuster trade that saw the latter traded to the Phoenix Suns in exchange for Mikal Bridges, Jae Crowder (now with the Milwaukee Bucks), four unprotected first-round picks, and a 2028 first-round pick swap.
He has played three games for Brooklyn so far averaging 14.7 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 2.3 assists. In his four seasons with the Suns, he notched up 10.7 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.4 assists.
And on a lighter note, he’s still working his way around Brooklyn traffic, something that doesn’t come as news to the people of the city used to the hustle and bustle.
“The traffic, and how long it takes to go one mile,” Johnson said of his biggest adjustment. “Oh my goodness, we were three miles away from here and it took 45 minutes.”
For someone born and raised in Pennsylvania, Johnson will take some time to understand how to navigate the traffic.
“I gotta get used to that. I gotta get used to how densely packed everything is us,” Johnson said. “I’m not really from the city. I went to college in the city a little bit, but this is different.”
Guess it’s going to be a while before Johnson understands the Brooklyn rule: Plan ahead, leave well ahead of time.
NBA Fans React To Cam Johnson’s Thoughts On Brooklyn’s Traffic
The Brooklyn natives were understanding of Johnson’s predicament. While some felt it was one of the things they could work about the city, some compared other cities, and some saw the funny side of it.
Some fans even hoped that he would come back to Arizona to play for the Suns in the near future. Here are some of the responses:
Just come back to AZ this summer when u are a FA
I’m not the type to ever say never but I’ve promised myself if I can help it I’ll avoid City living for as long as I possibly can. There’s pros & con’s to everything but I’ll take the cons of country living over the cities
Welcome to Bk

Here in Toronto man gotta wait like crazy too. Doesn’t compare to NY though
Toronto is the same man. That’s why I refuse to drive and don’t care about getting a driver’s license

“1 mile”
While he does get his share of help, there’s also hope that Johnson helps the Nets make their way to the playoffs, especially after the massive trade moves they pulled ahead of the deadline.
The Nets are currently fifth in the East with a 34-24 record and come off a win against the Miami Heat. They play the Chicago Bulls next.
