Carmelo Anthony On Kobe Bryant: “The Most Important Thing About Kobe For Me Was His Approach And His Mentality…”

2 Min Read

With just days to go until the one-year anniversary of Kobe Bryant’s death, stars around the association have chimed in on their experiences and thoughts surrounding the 18x All-Star.

Carmelo Anthony became the latest, after speaking to the media earlier this week.

“The most important thing about Kobe for me was his approach and his mentality. His game speaks for itself. He called it the Mamba Mentality. That’s something that’s going to be here for a long, long time.”

“It’s a mindset I think that’s what I took from him. How to change your mindset, how to approach it, how to become self-motivated, what makes you tick.”

The “Mamba mentality” Melo speaks of is world-renowned. As one of the hardest workers in the game, Kobe was a fighter and a guy who was willing to out-work anyone to win.

He is the face of that sort of “killer” mentality, even after his death. It has helped inspire countless individuals, including Melo, to be the best version of themselves on the basketball court.

For Anthony himself, he has clearly practiced everything that Bryant preached, as he has shown over the course of his amazing 17-year career. Now, with the Blazers, he’s hoping to use that same attitude to help bring them a Championship.
