Center Mitchell Robinson has done a solid job as the New York Knicks starting center this season, providing solid defense and rebounding in his minutes. However, he is not known for being an elite offensive player.

Recently, we saw Mitchell Robinson complain about his role on his Snapchat story. He was subsequently criticized for doing that by Chandler Parsons, who claimed that the center was being “a bad teammate.”

“This is a sign of immaturity. This is selfish. This is him being a bad teammate,” Parsons said. “His team is finally on top. They’re having a great year. They haven’t done anything with him. They’re now finally getting a taste of success and you just provide this public distraction really and let’s be honest, big guys like this when they go on this rant, what do you want? You want the ball [on isolation plays]?”

“He has zero game. He can’t go and score,” Parsons added. “He’s not like he’s gonna go get buckets, so I don’t really know where he’s getting at. He’s a great, big man that can roll, that can run, that can block shots, that can help defensively… But he will get exposed if they give him the ball… He’s not that guy.”

Though perhaps Mitchell Robinson could use more touches, it is clear that whatever the team has been doing on offense has been working. Julius Randle and Jalen Brunson are both All-Star level players, though Brunson notably got snubbed this season. Regardless, it makes sense for them to get priority when it comes to touches on the offensive end.

As of right now, Mitchell Robinson is averaging 7.5 PPG, 9.1 RPG, and 1.6 BPG for the New York knicks. He is clearly a great defensive player, and sometimes, it is best to be a star in your role, rather than trying to go away from what one is good at.

The New York Knicks Have A Solid Team

This is definitely one of the best teams that the New York Knicks have fielded in recent memory, and they look like they are a lock for the No. 6 seed in the Eastern Conference.

It will be interesting to see how they do in the playoffs. They didn’t do that well during the 2020-21 season when they made it, though obviously, they didn’t have Jalen Brunson back then. Hopefully, we see the Knicks find some degree of success in the postseason this year, perhaps by winning a series.
