Playing with LeBron James comes with its own sets of pros and cons. While it may seem like James always gets all the praise for leading his teams to victors, the flip side is also true.
In fact, LeBron James’ former teammate Channing Frye revealed in a conversation with Joe Vardon of The Athletic that it was one of the biggest advantages of being his teammate.
“You have to understand where he is, what he sees and what we see,” Frye said, per The Athletic. “We’re just steps for him to do what he has to do, which is a huge responsibility. But, it’s also fun. It’s freeing. It’s, like, no matter what I do, it’s always his fault.”
There’s no doubt about James being one of the most scrutinized players of all time. Whenever his team fails, he gets a lot of burden for it.
But considering that he has been the primary superstar for each team he has played during his career, it’s expected.
Channing Frye Thinks LeBron James Will Retire As A Cavalier
Channing Frye was a journeyman for most of his career in the NBA. But he played four seasons for the Cavaliers. In three of them, he was LeBron James’ teammate.
Frye retired in 2019, and he was a member of the Cavaliers at the time. The former NBA player believes James will have a similar ending to his career, who is currently under contract with the Los Angeles Lakers.
“Could you imagine LeBron’s last year in Cleveland?” Frye said. “I’m just a kid from Akron. His school, the city. I’ll say this to his face he should go back to Cleveland every single game. He’s gonna be in LA until, I cannot imagine my mind Bron being third wheel, right? It’s gonna be tough, okay, so when Bron is second wheel and a half. Bron’s like all right man, thank you I’m going somewhere for a season and we’re going to make it work.”
Frye added: “It’s going to be the greatest last year. If he knows this is last year I think he takes less money to go back to Cleveland.”
There’s no doubt that it would be epic to see LeBron James don the Cavaliers’ jersey for one last time in his career.
He is a legend of the organization and even led them to their sole ring in franchise history in 2016. As of now, it’s nothing more than a pipedream, but who knows? James did return to the Cavs earlier, he may do the same again.
