  • Charles Barkley believes the people who believe LeBron James is the GOAT are misguided
  • The legend noted that the closest those people got to watching Michael Jordan was by seeing “The Last Dance”
  • Michael Jordan and LeBron James are the most prominent names in the GOAT debate

In the modern basketball era, the GOAT debate is dominated by two players. Of course, the majority of people still believe that Michael Jordan is the GOAT, but LeBron James has popped up in discussions as well.

Charles Barkley is a player who actually played against Michael Jordan, and he had a strong take on the GOAT debate. Barkley claimed that the people who think James is the GOAT never watched Jordan play basketball.

“I love LeBron,” he said. “I love LeBron. But most of these people who are defending him as the greatest ever probably have never actually seen Michael Jordan actually play.
The closest they’ve come is that documentary that came out, ‘The Last Dance.’ But they ain’t actually never seen Michael Jordan play.”

This is definitely a strong take on the GOAT debate, and it is quite obvious that Barkley is a fan of Jordan’s. With that being said, LeBron James definitely has his own case for the award, and even former players such as Rashard Lewis believe that LeBron James is “hands-down” the GOAT.

Throughout his career, Michael Jordan averaged 30.1 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 5.3 assists. The shooting guard won five MVP awards and six championships. He went 6-0 in the Finals, and he clearly has the highest peak of all time as a player.

Dwyane Wade Revealed That Michael Jordan Will Always Be His GOAT

There is no doubt that a lot of older players believe that Michael Jordan is the GOAT. One of those players is LeBron James’ former teammate Dwyane Wade. In fact, Wade admitted that though James is his good friend, Jordan will forever be his GOAT.

“I come from the Jordan era, so I’m biased,” he said. “Michael Jordan will always be my GOAT… I played basketball because of Michael Jordan… All of us have our own opinions…”

There is no doubt that Dwyane Wade has good reasons to believe that Michael Jordan is the GOAT, aside from the on-court play. Wade is notably from Chicago, and it is clear that Michael Jordan is a hero to the city.

It remains to be seen if one day a player will surpass both LeBron James and Michael Jordan to become the undisputed GOAT. As of right now, that day does not seem close, and the GOAT debate will likely continue to rage on.
