The Golden State Warriors made one of the most surprising moves of the summer when they traded Jordan Poole and picks to the Washington Wizards to get Chris Paul on the roster.

The veteran guard could be a game-changer for the Warriors, and he is very excited to play alongside Stephen Curry and the fantastic core the Warriors have built.

“Me and Steph have known each other a long time. My wife was at his wedding, I think he and his wife was at our wedding. We’ve known each other for a very long time and I’m excited to get a chance to play alongside him, Klay, Wiggs, Draymond, all of them. They’ve got an unbelievable organization and that team has been playing together for a while and know what they’re doing.”

CP3 could bring a lot of good things to the Warriors’ bench unit, as they struggled heavily last season with Poole running the show.  Paul has never come off the bench in his career, but it may be time to do so with GSW, a team that was -17.7 in minutes where Curry was on the bench during the postseason.

Paul averaged 13.9 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 8.9 assists last season. His abilities as a floor general are still elite and can be of great use to a team like the Warriors.

How Will Chris Paul And Stephen Curry Fit Together?

We likely don’t see Paul and Curry share the court together as much during a game, but they’ll likely share the floor in late-game situations. Two small guards that are quite old can be a defensive impediment, but the offense may flow beautifully if Paul, Curry, and Draymond Green are on the floor together, provided he re-signs.

Klay Thompson likely starts the season in the backcourt with Curry, but that role could evolve through the season based on what CP3 is doing. Starting CP3 may not be as wise, given the Warriors genuinely need a person like him to bring stability to their second unit.

The Warriors have a lot of lineup options for themselves already, as they look to further flesh out their rotation through free agency.
