Draymond Green made the headlines for all the wrong reasons once again when he stomped on Domantas Sabonis in Game 2 of the Kings-Warriors series on Monday.

Reports initially indicated that Green wouldn’t face a suspension for it, but the NBA did decide to suspend him for Game 3 and Damian Lillard wasn’t happy with that.

When a fan trolled Lillard by stating that defending Green wouldn’t lead to him signing with the Portland Trail Blazers, Dame brushed it aside by calling the decision a crazy one.

“A suspension is crazy.”

Lillard had defended Green right after the incident, so it isn’t a surprise that he vehemently disagrees with the league here. He is not the only one to side with Green either, with Shaquille O’Neal stating that he would have done the same if someone grabbed his leg as Sabonis had done.

Whatever the case, Draymond is out for the game, and the Warriors will enter a must-win situation without one of their key players. Green should have known better than to act in that manner and it might just end up costing his team this series.

Draymond Green Defended Himself After The Stomping Incident

As for Green himself, he stated that he had to land his foot somewhere after Sabonis grabbed it. He then took to Instagram to again point the finger at Sabonis, sarcastically stating that there was nothing wrong with the Lithuanian grabbing his leg and that it was a solid basketball play.

Green hasn’t been putting up big numbers in this series, with averages of 6.0 PPG, 6.5 RPG, 8.0 APG, and 1.5 SPG, but his absence on the defensive end will certainly be felt by the Warriors. He and Kevon Looney had done a pretty good job on Sabonis, especially in Game 1, and the big man will be looking to advantage of Green’s absence in Game 3. The Warriors will be hoping that playing at home can help them overcome his absence, but, at the same time, the Kings would be desperate to not let this opportunity slip from their hands, so it sets up to be a must-watch contest.
