The Los Angeles Lakers started the 2022-23 NBA season with a 2-10 record. But over the course of the season, the Lakers not only made it to the NBA playoffs, they were eliminated in the Western Conference Finals.

Considering that, one would assume that rookie head coach Darvin Ham was happy with his team’s performance this season. Well, following the Game 4 loss vs. the Nuggets, Ham revealed that’s not the case and the reason he took the job was to win NBA Championships. He wants to achieve it next season.

“Coming into next year, there’s gonna be expectations with this organization as it should be and what this organization has meant to the NBA and to the world of sports as a whole,” Ham said. “Each and every individual. Each and every player, coach, any person from the front office, any person working for our organization, we got to see how we can take this momentum and take it to an even higher level. To the point where we’re the ones that’s outside celebrating. We’re the ones that’s on our way to that final stage of playing in the NBA Finals.”

He added: “I didn’t come here to have more wins than losses, or make a playoff round one, or make a playoff run, I came to win.”

Darvin Ham had his hands full this season by figuring out the rotations and incorporating new players into the roster. Hopefully, next season the Lakers make most of the changes required in the roster during the offseason, and the team can start the season on a winning note.

The Denver Nuggets Were Simply The Better Team

Being the seventh seed and reaching the Western Conference Finals was no small achievement by the Los Angeles Lakers.

But at the end of the day, the Nuggets were simply the better team, and they proved it throughout the series. LeBron James also praised the Nuggets and claimed this was the best team he has faced since joining the Los Angeles Lakers.

With a 4-0 sweep, the Nuggets are heading to the NBA Finals on a high note. As for the Lakers, they will be hoping to retain as many players as possible from the current roster. After all, the Purple and Gold became one of the best teams in the NBA after their mid-season trades.
