The Los Angeles Lakers faced off against the Los Angeles Clippers in an incredibly crucial game of the season.

Although LeBron James and Anthony Davis were questionable for the matchup, they ended up playing, hoping to bolster the Lakers’ chances of clinching the sixth seed in the West. Unfortunately, the Lakers still lost the game. During the postgame interview, head coach Darvin Ham revealed the only silver lining of playing them vs. the Clippers.

“They want to put it on the line,” Ham said. “That’s the silver lining. We are together.”

LeBron James and Anthony Davis indeed put everything on the line against the Clippers. But their efforts weren’t enough to win the game for the Purple and Gold. After all, they were playing a back-to-back game following an overtime win against the Utah Jazz.

Despite that, James recorded 33 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists, while Davis contributed 17 points, 11 rebounds, and 3 assists in the 118-125 loss.

The Lakers Have Now Lost 11 Straight Games Against The Clippers

The city of Angels is widely regarded as the ‘Laker Town’ due to the Purple and Gold’s rich history in the NBA.

But over the last few years, the Los Angeles Clippers have undoubtedly dominated the Lakers. So much so that following their most recent battle, the Clippers have now won 11 straight games vs. the Lakers.

It is truly an astonishing stat to digest for the Lakers fanbase. Moreover, the 11th defeat couldn’t have come at a worse time, as the Lakers were hoping to clinch the fifth seed in the Western Conference.

Now, the Lakers have a 41-39 record and hold the seventh seed in the conference. On the other hand, the Clippers have improved their record to 42-38 and are the clear favorites to end the season as the sixth seed.

With just two games left to be played this season, it feels like the Purple and Gold are all set to feature in the play-in tournament.
