The 2016 Team USA may not be one of the most iconic rosters ever assembled, but it was still enough to bring home the gold medal at the Rio Olympics.

Paul George and DeMar DeRozan were part of the team, among others. Speaking of the two, they recently shared memories from the campaign during an episode of ‘Podcast P.’

“Bro, that was a grind, I ain’t going to lie,” DeRozan said. “Once we got to Rio on the boat, it was like we were eating the same s**t every day. We couldn’t stand straight in the shower. Your room next to mine? I could hear your phone conversations.”

In addition, the men’s team wasn’t alone on the yacht. Instead, they had to share it with the women’s team as well. It was separated by a huge gate, and apparently, there was a club on the other boat.

“They had a club on the other boat,” DeMar added. “But it would just be us in the club. I got videos on my phone.”

The two stars then went on to discuss how they used to sing songs by popular rappers such as 50 Cent and Lil Wayne.

Despite the struggles of staying in such a cramped place, Team USA didn’t fail in the ultimate goal of winning the gold medal. They defeated Serbia with a score of 96-66 in the final game of the campaign.

DeMar DeRozan Almost Joined Paul George And Kawhi Leonard On The Clippers

DeMar DeRozan and Paul George have a close relationship that has lasted for years now. Although they played together for Team USA, they never had the opportunity to do so for an NBA team.

Well, DeRozan recently revealed that he considered teaming up with George and Leonard on the Los Angeles Clippers before deciding to sign with the Chicago Bulls.

“In that moment I was like, ‘hell yeah!’ Let’s figure it out. The business side of it was flawed in its own right but me just looking at it like man, I could do this, play with my dog home? Let’s try to figure it out.”

The Los Angeles Clippers have been in search of the final piece to win their first NBA Championship. Sure, George and Leonard are great players, but they are in desperate need of a third star who can carry the team during their absence. After all, the duo has proven to be extremely prone to injuries.

That third star could have been DeRozan. Unfortunately, the potential move never came to fruition. Thus, the Clippers are still in search of their first NBA Championship in franchise history.
