The Los Angeles Lakers were unceremoniously kicked out of the playoffs by the Denver Nuggets after they won Game 4 and completed the sweep in the Lakers’ building.

LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Darvin Ham have all received partial blame for the way this series has turned out. But the player subjected to the most anger has been D’Angelo Russell. In the aftermath of the sweep, fans once again trolled him online.

A video of D’Angelo Russell after Game 3 had gone viral, showing the star putting in extra work on the court after a pitiful display in the loss. And a video of him doing the same routine has gone viral again, with the joke being that he is getting ready for Game 5, despite the Lakers‘ season coming to an end. And it’s even worse because he is still missing shots, as one fan pointed out.

The running gag in NBA circles on social media is telling players they will be going to China after a bad performance. Dwight Howard recently had a hilarious outburst where he asked all the underachievers to join him in Taiwan. And that got brought up again, with one fan joking that Russell was training to play in Taiwan.

LeBron James made some waves after the game, suggesting that he is considering retiring from the game. And a comment hilariously suggested that having to play with players like Russell is what is making him a bit more likely to retire.

Even before Game 4, there were reports that D’Angelo Russell’s Lakers future was in doubt. And after watching this video, another fan made it sound like this might have been his last game for the storied franchise.

D’Angelo Russell Was Bad The Whole Nuggets’ Series

After some top performances in the regular season and early playoff rounds, a lot of fans were very high on Russell and his abilities. But it all went south during the Western Conference Finals, with D’Angelo getting pushed to the bench in Game 4. He averaged 6.2 points per game in the sweep, truly abysmal numbers for someone looking to get another $100 million contract.

D’Angelo Russell seems fine with playing wherever he gets the right opportunity, but this series has seriously hurt his reputation and potentially his next contract. What the Lakers decide to do with him remains to be seen, but after this showing, fans won’t be too sad if he leaves in free agency either.
