The Philadelphia 76ers are getting ready to face the Boston Celtics in the second round of the 2023 NBA Playoffs, but things could complicate without their superstar on the court.

Doc Rivers has provided an update on Joel Embiid’s health and it’s not promising for the player, the team, or the fans.

This would be a huge blow for the Sixers, who already survived without Embiid against the Brooklyn Nets, but now the challenge has gotten significantly harder. The Boston Celtics are one of the top teams in the league and if they want to beat them, Embiid will need to be at full strength.

During Game 3 of their Brooklyn Nets series, Embiid picked up a knee injury and his status was a big question mark ahead of the Celtics series. Now, his head coach has provided an update, but not the one the fans were hoping for.

This series is set to start this Monday and many things could change before that. The Sixers know they carry huge pressure to win this season, and starting this matchup without Embiid would be terrible.

The Sixers Need Embiid Fully Healthy To Beat The Celtics

Many fans recently debated who would be the best player in the series, with some going with Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. Others picked Embiid and James Harden, but the final outcome is yet to be seen.

Perhaps Harden comes out with some vintage performances to help his team, perhaps he smacks the Celtics in one of their first two games. Nobody knows anything except that Philadelphia needs their best player on the court.

After suffering big eliminations at the hands of Kawhi Leonard (2019), Trae Young and Ben Simmons (2021), and Jimmy Butler (2022), the Sixers are ready to get past the second round and show that they can compete for a championship.
