Big man Joel Embiid is one of the top superstars in the league, and there is no doubt that he is an extremely dominant player when healthy. It is fair to say that he is an MVP-level player, and many believe that it is his year to win the award.

Even though the Philadelphia 76ers ended up sweeping the Brooklyn Nets, one of the negative parts of the series for the 76ers was Joel Embiid getting injured. A recent report from John Clark revealed that the center has a sprained LCL and might have to “wear a brace” and play through his knee injury upon his return.

“Source confirms Joel Embiid has a sprained LCL. He may have to wear a brace for the knee when he returns. There is some hope that he can play towards the beginning of the Sixers second round series but he will be playing through a knee injury.”

There is no doubt that this is a concerning update, and hopefully, Joel Embiid doesn’t end up further aggravating his knee once he comes back. Ultimately though, it is likely that the star will at least try to give it a go to help his team against the Boston Celtics.

In the series against the Brooklyn Nets, Joel Embiid averaged 20.0 PPG, 11.3 RPG, and 2.3 BPG for the Philadelphia 76ers. Though his numbers are obviously down from the regular season, that was in part due to the way he was being guarded by the Brooklyn Nets. The 76ers ended up winning the series, which is what likely matters more to Joel Embiid than individual production.

Joel Embiid Believes That He Is The Best Player In The World

There is no doubt that Joel Embiid had a dominant regular season with the Philadelphia 76ers, as he ended up finishing with 33.1 PPG, 10.2 RPG, and 4.2 APG. Those numbers are definitely impressive, and Joel Embiid previously claimed that he is now the best player in the world following this year.

Obviously, he will have to prove that he is the best in the world in the playoffs, on the highest stage. The goal for the Philadelphia 76ers will be at least the Eastern Conference Finals, as this is one of the best teams they have managed to assemble in recent memory. In fact, James Harden views the 2023 76ers as his best chance to win a championship. Hopefully, we see them at least make the Finals, and they definitely have the talent to do so.
