Domantas Sabonis is one of the best centers in the NBA right now, posting incredible performances this season while helping the Sacramento Kings return to the top of the Western Conference.

Comparisons with his father are inevitable, but the player revealed he’s used that as fuel to improve his game and reach new heights.

“Since I was a kid, you always hear: ‘Your dad is better than you. Your dad’s this. Your dad is that.’ You hear it all the time in every game,” Sabonis said, via the New York Times. “But if anything, without that, I wouldn’t have been where I am. If anything, I use it as fuel to be better.”

Arvydas Sabonis is considered one of the best international players of all time, which puts the bar really high for his son. However, Domantas has taken things to a different level, becoming a 3x NBA All-Star. Even though comparisons are always there, he’s creating his own legacy in the league and enjoying being on a competitive team.

Domantas Sabonis And De’Aaron Fox Lead Sacramento Kings To The Playoffs After 16 Years

The Sacramento Kings are having a terrific 2022-23 NBA season, clinching a top-3 spot in the Western Conference. After several years of trying to return to the postseason, they finally made it and now are ready to take it to the next level. Sabonis and De’Aaron Fox are one of the best duos in the league this season, and the Kings’ record confirms that.

Many people thought they had lost the trade involving Tyrese Haliburton, but time has proven that this was a win-win exchange. They’ve been compared to John Stockton and Karl Malone by a legend like Kevin Garnett, so you know they are the real deal.

Moreover, Fox claimed that Sabonis should be in MVP talks, given the team’s great level this campaign. In 78 games this campaign, the former Indiana Pacers and Oklahoma City Thunder player is averaging 19.2 points, 12.4 rebounds, and 7.3 assists.
